That’s what I think 4bbl all the way. We had two old school GM cars back in the day with 5.7 V8s:

1972 Chevy Impala 5.7 2bbl Rochester just like the one on your engine except with the divorced choke
1975 Olds Delta 88 5.7 with Rochester Quadrajet 4bbl

tbe Olds performed far better the Chevy always felt strangled by that 2 bbl carb.

when I got this boat and saw it had an original unmolested Marine Quadrajet it was just like old times.
id go for a 4 bbl every time on a marine V6 or V8...,

Guaranteed carbs / flyfishing carbs that was linked previously does not have the carb in stock. All they currently have are cores to build, and they said you're looking at 10 days at this point because they're so far behind. They can convert the one I have to marine, but again I'd be in line once mine arrives. They said they're having a difficult time getting people to return their cores for these, so that means I'll hang on to this one. Ordering the one from ebay.

As much as I'd like to convert to 4 barrel, that is far more than I care to spend right now. First boat in decades, not entirely sure how long I'll keep it after the fiasco's I've had just getting it done to put in the water for it's maiden voyage under my control!

Pools and boats, holes you throw money in. And I've got both.

We have a pool too, in ground and salt chlorination and heat pump keeps it at a nice 88*F. Love it and not really a big deal to maintain.
The cost to upgrade to a brand new Edelbrock 4bbl with a warrantee is well worth it! Why? Well I’m not a fan of getting carbs from places like that, sometimes they are Franken carbs (ie pieced together from various carbs) that never work right. Either a brand new carb, or an unmolested original marine carb that needs a re fresh. I have one of each; the original Quadrajet and a nearly new Holley 4160 of the exact model # that was set up specifically for the 4.3 V6.
