Rod Racks/With Picture

Where can I buy the replacement for rod holder side panels, if they cannot be purchased anywhere, does anyone have a magic solution to get these things clean?!<br /><br />

<br /><br />The boat is a 1988 Renken Seamaster, and Renken is no longer in business so, I would need to purchase this replacement after market.<br /><br />-Thanks, Cool It

Clean them up as best as possible and paint them..<br /><br />There are special paints available that will stick to plastics... <br /><br /> Krylon makes a spray paint that krylon says will stick to plastic.. Renken was bought by United Marine Corp, so if you want to try getting a replacement you can contact them at custserv@unitedmarine.com to see if they can help. Otherwise, like others have suggested, cleaning and painting might be your only choice since there's probably not an aftermarket equivalent.

I got the e-mail address from the below link which also has a phone number if you want to try calling. A Web search still shows United Marine existing at the address and phone number shown, so seems funny that the e-mail address is no good, but who knows? Those look like the gun racks that you used to get to put in the back window of a truck. Maybe something like that could be modified to fit?? Do they have a rubber coating on the hook part? If you are going to paint, use a flexable paint made for plastic bumpers. You can get it any any auto parts store. You could coat the hooks in rubber tool dip. It is available at most hardware stores and maybe even wallyworld. It comes in a couple different colors and would be very durable and nice and quiet. just an idea.

I swear by soft scrub with bleach. <br />And if that doesn't work you only wasted a couple of dollars and some elbow grease.<br />hth, Hop

Thanks everyone for your help-- I cant seem to find new racks so I think I will try some type of bleach or the soft scrub if that does not work -- worse case I will try painting with the plastic paint( hopefully I wont have to go that way) thanks again<br /><br />Cool IT

Had a similar problem on another boat, removed the rack, used it as a template and made some new ones from the white plastic cutting boards, like the ones we use in our kitchen. You can buy the same stuff from marine supply stores, but be sure to take you savings acc't when you go. Looking at your picture though, you wouldn't need much. It served me well until I sold the boat. No mildew and they are colorfast.<br /><br />B O A T bring on another thousand

Hey Gee Frankk<br /><br />Thanks for the reply -- I took them out and scrubed them down it help slightley -also took the rings of from the holes, they were all cracking-- looks a little better -- Ill see from here dont know if I want to make my own?<br /><br />Thanks<br />COOL IT !!!

There is a product "X-14" that will make them look new again. All you do is spray it on and walk away, dont scrub! This will also take all the mildew stains off boat seats. You may have to repeat on heavy staining, but I have yet to encounter a mold or mildew that it would not remove. It is sold in hardware stores as a shower cleaner, if you can't find it the extra strenght tilex sold in the paint department at wal-mart works almost as well. After the mildew goes wash with a mild soap, dry then spray down liberally with a protectant like amor-all. I thought I was going to have to replace my seats, I tryed this and now they look new again.
