Well there is plenty more where that came from! Stick around a while. I promise to amaze and amuse you all when I tear into this outdrive! Its half-price margarita night at the Mexican restaurant just down the street from me on Friday. For your continued reading pleasure I have added a picture of the final product. I just have to do the wiring and attach the safety chains. I will have to pick up some longer ones so that I can attach them to the boat side of the trailer -- if that makes any sense.

Oh, speaking of mods, or any all knowing powers. Here is the serial number off my Alpha 1 can anyone send me a link to an idiot sheet for this thing? OL566245 It says Alpha one and it is on a 4.3L 99 Chaparral.swingaway.jpg

Re: Rookie/Newbie Question about water in the bilge area

So, I got the drive off. I am going to order this kit on Monday. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...20643793759&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MESE:IT

It comes with U-joints. I looked at my old ones tonight and they aren't rusted up, but while I have the bellows off, etc... They are relatively cheap. My first question is how do you guys get the old u-joints out? I have done many a driveshaft on trucks, etc, but I don't see how I am going to put this thing in my shop vice and do the "use-a-socket" trick? How much would a shop charge to do this if I just brought them the drive? I just know what a pain in the *** they can be without a press.

Next question: I plan on getting this contraption off Ebay on Monday as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ALIG...at_Parts_Accessories_Gear&hash=item483f07c1a2 Have any of you guys bought from this company? I will also need the shifter socket and I was going to pick it up from the same place. The attached some pictures but the drive didn't look to be in too bad a shape.

You will pull your hair out trying the socket trick... You can use the tool from the auto parts store.. That's what I been thinking of doing.. I hate U- joints and often thought of letting a shop do em but unsure of the price..

I see your kit has a gimble bearing in it... That thing is fun to get out...
