Rough Idle

76 115 hp model 1150. Idle seems rough, but I have nothing to compare to as this is my first boat. At idle, the motor "shakes", but at wot, seems ok. Idle is around 800 rpm. Compression is 125 to 130 on all 6 cylinders. New plugs and switchbox.<br /><br />TIA,<br />Eric

Set the carb idle screws while trolling in gear. Turn each one in till motor stumpbles then back out 1/2 turn. Do this several times to be sure.<br /><br />If that don't cure it, see my "timing and sync" post.<br /><br />And if THAT don't cure it... then it's the best you'll ever get - they don't idle completely smooth.<br /><br />-W

The idle must be adjusted in the water in gear to get a proper adjustment
