First it was the cell phone ... screen died.

Slid on the ice and did $3100 damage to my Yukon. The tree was unharmed. Body man says he will fix it in January.

Then on Saturday while hunting my wife tells me that the oven is on fire ... she was making apple butter when it malfunctioned. She had the smarts to throw the breaker. Fire out, control shot. Jenn-aire ... part has to be ordered, no one has it in stock ... will arrive the middle of January, with a rush on it!

Tonight I am running wire for a stove/oven in the basement. Fortunately stove in kitchen is gas top and electric oven, so can still use the burners, just not the oven. But Mrs. wants a stove she can use for Christmas ... repair place is loaning us a stove ... how cool is that?!? Just have to run the wiring tonight.

Hope nothing else breaks before Christmas!

Did you try www.repairclinic.com ?
They often seem to have parts that nobody else carries.

We have one of those ceramic cooktops, and the microwave is over it. My wife is short, and of course, dropped a dish onto the surface and cracked it. After seeing how the service company wanted to rape me, I bought a top from that link and did it myself! Saved a ton of money.

I got a doe the first day ... but after wrecking the Denali the only deer I could have shot at was a really nice 4 point ... about a 15 inch spread ... but there has to be 3 points on one side to be legal in PA, and I couldn't put a brow tine on him at all ... I tried ... we even pushed him into the water and drove the boat up to him to check out at close range, but grabbing the antlers  (how we knew the spread) we could see there was no 3rd point.

Huh. I never heard of a minimum size limit on a deer b/4. Boy, I wonder how many forks are shot and left for the critters because a hunter thought/assumed there was a brow tine..... Probably as a whole, the majority of deer shot are does, spikes and forks. At least around here. Sure, you get the 6 -10's. But, that wouldn't be the average. I saw a fawn registered this rifle season, it still had spots. And we're talking the weekend of Thanksgiving. I've never seen a young fawn like that so late in the year. My Lab was bigger. The guy said he could only see the head and that's where he hit it. Heck, the head wasn't even fully formed. He must have been very close to it since the head was so tiny..... In my travels today I saw an 8pt....... He must know the season is over....

Sounds like January will be a good month. Expensive.....but good.
Hope you have a Merry Christmas. No joke intended.

Well Art, I'm sorry your having a bad week. I guess the only consolation is that we need to have some bad days to appreciate the good. At least if I tell my self that a thousand times, I may believe it..lol. By the way, what is apple butter? Sounds good.

The temp hit -12 c the other morning so I went to light the basement wood stove, as I have had problems before lighting it due to the cold blasting down the brick chimmeney at me I now pre heat the fire box with a tiger torch for five or so minutes till the stove pipe warms up,
well not long enough I guess as the fire started, the smoke bellowed out the door and the basement and the rest of the house filled with smoke:mad:
now I have to go fix some holes in the drywall:rolleyes:
