RPM vs load question

Usually when I'm out by myself I hit the mark. 5500rpm at 40-43 mph WOT. Normally when I take the family out I don't go at WOT. However, yesterday we were trying the beat the storm home. With with three adults and a puddgy dog I maxed out at 4800rpms @36mph. Is that normal for an extra 450lbs?

Thanks,
Tom

Re: RPM vs load question

It's about right depending on how much trim you had. If you were "plowing" that is just about correct.

Ok, thanks. Only been boating for going on three years now and I never experienced this.
