OK heres whats up. I have a 1988 Celebrity 5.0 AlfaOne with a 19" alum tri blade. I just got her, and this was her second time out with me. First time out she does around 4500rpms with an SE Sport whale tail on the lower end. after the run with my last boat I didnt like them much for speed, seemed to slow me down a bit. So I decided to remove the tail and let her run WOT, she seems to run a bit fastest, but the rpms where buried well over 6. Now I think that the gauge is off, just the way it acted kinda gittery and did not seem to match the sound of engine. (Disclamer, I am 43yrs, I have been around v8's since i was 14 and understand them fairly well, But I have not been around marine v8's untill now) Now I know that I can not trust my ears for acurate readings, but the rpm's did not seem to be that much of a differance in the two runs. And in no way did the engine sound like she was running to hard. Rpm's jumped way to fast on the dial in my opinon. But I wanted the expert advice of you salty dogs
