Just a couple of quick questions. Firstly, my boss has a 1976 125 evinrude that has been winterized by a mechanic about 4 years ago. He had it on an 18' larson and he said it ran like a bat outta hell!! He's done with it now and he said I could have it for $500.00 because to quote " it's just a boat anchor to me now, my kids moved out." So what should I check over and replace before I fire it up, keep in mind he said it ran perfect before it was winterized. It was kept in doors on a bracket up right under a cloth in a heated garage the whole time. Secondly Is this motor WAY to big to stick on the back of my 16' sangster? I have a feeling I know the answer, but I just thought I'd ask .thanks guys.

sparkplugs, waterpump, thermostats, gas, rebuild carbs and clean them thoroughly. as far as the other boat, it depends on the hp rating on the plate that gives load capacities and such. four years is a long time to sit around despite winterizing

well cross out the gas part, I didn't catch the part that it's the motor only, which is a pretty good deal too if it's not been abused

it hasn't he's an older fella who drives an old grummin' and thinks 50 mph is far to fast for the free way!!l The other boat is rated for a 70hp. So I think I know the answer, but still is there a way possibly a way to make it work?<br />(it reeks of stupidity, I know.)

Give us the model No., If it is a 125, it can't be a 76. If it is a 71, or 72, that could change things as what to look for. Battery CD ignition, and hydro-electric shift would be two items.
