Re: Rude 9.9 power

Certainly! I added lights, wiring, the proper recepticles, light storage clips, and a 12V trolling battery to my little 35 year old 12' AeroCraft and keep it charged with a maintenance charger for trolling batteries.

This was a necessity for me since I fish for salmon in Lake Huron (yes - Michigan) in the wee hours, and the clamp-on lights are usually not legal. There are rear-light height requirements you have to meet and the clamp-ons do not meet them, even for a 12' boat.

Since that time, I also added and use the battery for (what else?) a MinnKota 36-36 trolling motor! The battery runs me a long time for the lights only, since I barely use them anyway. For that matter, I have never killed the battery using my trolling motor. The battery was a cheap one ($49) at BassProShops and I am very satisfied with it.

Oh, your original question? I doubt you can add a charging system to your 9.5, but someone here may know better than I.

I also own a 9.5, a 1968, but the Johnson flavor (twin to the 'rude).

I would think there is as I have an older (1975-76) Evenrude w/electric start w/hook up for battery and it keeps it charged. You would need to find a manual to see what connections to make if it has a current system or what is need to convert it over.
