I have a new/old style Rule mercury float switch for my bilge pump.
The question I have is what would the proper orientation of the mercury float switch should be.
It would seem that it would be best to install the switch so that the switch is perpendicular to the center line of the boat so that when accelerating and decelerating the mercury in the switch would not be able to move forward and back causing the bilge pump to go on and off during acceleration or deceleration.
Is this correct?
What is the proper installation orientation of a mercury float switch?
