Run motor out of the water

Is it possible to run a 115hp johnson out of the water without burning it up?? And if so how long is to long??? Thanks in advance....

NO!!!<br /><br />One second is too long. The water pump impeller needs water for lubrication.

If it ran more than 30 secs you would likely have impeller damage.That's not knowing whether it was bone dry to start with.

OutBoard engines are made to run IN water!!!

Just run it on muffs, and keep the hose on all the way. You may notice the pee stream may not be as powerfull as when it is in the water, but it should be fine.
