Running a Force 150 with no lower unit?

So, I'm putting together a Franken-Force, using components from old 125 hp outboards and a 150 powerhead I got cheap a few years ago. I have the powerhead seated on the mid-section. I've got good spark and compression on all cylinders.

Before I put any more $$$ in it, I was thinking about running a hose to the water tube, and seeing if it runs.

I did that with a 1998 Johnson 150 a few months ago, and I got warnings from more experienced mechanics, letting me know that doing that can cause big problems, if you rev it. (Which thankfully, I did not.)

Are there any concerns with running a Force 150 that way?

BTW, I don't know the year. I just got the powerhead, no other components, so no serial number.

It should be fine as long as you don't over rev it. Two stroke motors without a load are easy to over rev without a load.

Under the bottom carb on the intake is a foundry stamp.
That has a year in the center.
Also under the packs and coils on the block is another stamp.
'It should have the year the part was made.
That won't give you the model but will get you close.

Pics of the ignition and the fuel system can give clues to the model.
