Running engine on land

I have a 95 four winns fling with 115 hp jet ski engine. I have been told that you need to connect a water source to engine to run on land. Is this true and if not what is recommended to run and work on these when out of the water?

Its true. youll burn up the raw waterpump in the outdrive. You need to hook it up to a garden hose and turn the water on before you start the motor

I have read on other forums that many people run their motor dry on land for 30 seconds or so to make sure it fires.

The Sea Doo manual also states not to run longer than 5 minutes while on the hose, because certain parts are cooled.

It also states start the engine, then the water. When you are done, turn off the water, then the engine.

I have looked and looked and cannot figure out where this connection is for the hose. Does anyone know where I might look? Thanks for the other info.

On the Sea Doo boats it is back underneath the swim platform, pretty much attached to the same are where the jet nozzle(s) come through the stern,

OPPs When i read it I thought you had a outboard. Since you have a jet I PMed you. Your hose connection is at the pump. It may look like a quick connect for a air hose. there is a special adapter you can buy made for the flushing or you can make your own.
When flushing remember motor on water on water off motor off. follow that sequence. Do not let the water run without the motor running. Im not saying its gotta me immediately but try to start the motor quick. reason is if you let the water run it can backflow and go into the cylinders
