I got the boat out of storage and hooked up the ear muffs (water) to run and it seemed to be fine. I put the boat in the water and it runs then stops. I added 5 gallons of fresh gas and still no change. I noticed each time it died that the hand "fuel ball" was not hard. It is really difficult to may the fuel ball hard. I replaced the fuel ball last year or maybe the year before.

I "think" it is a fuel related issue. My question is this - Can I simply buy an electric marine fuel pump? If yes, what pressure setting should I buy?

Please note I have eliminated my oil injection - I simply mix into the gas.

Thanks for your help / support.

Try squeezing the fuel bulb while it is running, that would basically be acting as a fuel pump. If it runs as normal I would suspect the fuel pump as being faulty. You can get a VRO pump repair kit. It will have all the items you need to get your fuel pump working assuming it is the issue. Before that I would check and see if the pulse line coming for your block to your pump doesn't have any air leaks.

Bullcity101,

thanks for the reply. I had a friend of a friend that works on boat motors help me identify my previous issue as well as swap out the VRO fuel pump to a different 3 cylinder fuel pump that he had in his possesion. I did what you said and I can not remember if squeezing it while running helped or not. Regarding the "pulse line" can you send me a picture or description of where this line is and what it does? Thanks again for your response. Scott 262-719-4047 (scott.strobel@huscoauto.com)

Hello everyone - I will try the ball idea to verify it is the fuel pump. "IF" it is the fuel pump, does anyone know a fuel pump I can put on, keep in mind that I am mixing (oil & Fuel) and NOT relying on the fuel pump to mix the fuel. THank you in advance for your suggestions.
Thanks
Scott

I replaced the in boat fuel tank with a marine 6 gallon tank therefore all new fuel supply and tank
. I did have a cracked fuel line that was weeping fuel. Fired the boat up and drove the boat from landing to dock. Half way across the boat would loose power then re-gain power, I think it might need new plug wires. Went thru 1/2gallon fuel over 1mile -seems like a lot of fuel but it is a big boat -28' party barge sun tracker
