Re: Running on the pad!!!

Ive witnessed an Allison run 108mph in a quarter mile with a 2.5 Merc, it had a lot of goodies on it including a lean burn box. Rode in this same boat with another friend, three of us in the boat and it still topped out at 96 (took over a 1/4 mile though}. Awsome ride.

Look at the shadow under the boat, the sun is slightly high and slightly to his left. Very well could be the shadow of the lower unit. other side is nothing. The place I got this picture is reputable, and this boat has indeed clocked over 100MPH before.

Re: Running on the pad!!!

The "survival suit" as it was described is actually a Kevlar Cut Suit. If you're running solo on a quiet lake, the helmet and life jacket are "probably" sufficient. The pic of my boat was taken during competition with eleven other similar boats. You can be flat and true one second and in the drink the next, so the guy behind you may not have time to react and not run over you. The props we use would make a Ginsu look dull, so the Kevlar suit helps prevent a 3-bladed slice and dice. You can still get pretty banged up if you get hit - you'll just be in one piece when they pull you out.
I wear my Kevvies every time I go out, even when testing alone. I know a guy who got crooked on calm water, spit out the side and had the boat corkscrew right over top of him. Cut up his arm pretty good by his own boat. The brain bucket is an every time thing, too. I had my bow pop off another boat's wake and put my chin-guard through the forward deck.
Play fast, but play safe!
- Scott

Reminds me of my Switzer in the late 70's. Had a 150XS block in it, ran 75 on a good day. Short shaft 2 blade surfacing prop. I STILL miss that Merc "Brapp, brapp, brapp" sound losing and catching water, and the sawing back and forth on the wheel to keep it "on the pad"....damn fun!
