I have some running problems and figured I would pick some brains first. Initially I thought the carbs had to be rebuilt and was going to order a manual and two carb kits but I?m not so sure it is the carbs.

It?s a 96 90hp V4 crossflow.

  • I have new plugs, filters and batteries taht are charged
  • Two summers ago the tank was pulled from the boat (cleaned and new lines installed).
  • Last summer it ran fine but was not in the water because my father in-law was trying to sell it.
  • He gave me the boat in November but it didn?t run properly so I said I?ll take care of it in the spring.

So I figured it was probably the carbs since trying to run fresh gas did nothing to the quality. The boat runs fine during warm-up with the choke on but once it warms up it seems to turn lean and I have to keep bumping the choke to keep it idling.

Could it be something besides the carbs?

Maybe a fuel pump or something?

I have to go get my fuel gauge from my friend so I can test this.

if you let it sit for more than 60 days without fuel stabilizer in the fuel,it probably needs the carbs cleaned.

It always had fuel stabilizer added when fuel was added.
