so i have a 1990 6hp evinrude that runs like a dam dream in a barrel and then when i get it out on lake will only run at high rpms. it is the same combo of gas tank, hose and motor. I just dont understand? Kind of stumped... Thoughts?
When you are out to the lake, try backing the low speed needle out a little to enrich the idle mixture.
How about advancing the timing at idle a little? Have you done a proper link/synch? Is the level of the fuel tank the same in the boat as in the barrel? Is this motor new to you? If not how did it run before?
can't remember...does this motor have a submerged exhaust? If I'm right and it doesn't, then could it be that the boat is floating lower in the water for some reason? Added a battery in the stern, bigger gas tank, gained some weight over the winter, different boat, yada yada yada
