Re: rusted pulleys

If they are that far gone, just replace them. Sand blasting only blows the rust out of the pits and it's still rough like sandpaper and will eat up the belts.
After you replace the pulley, you better find a way of keeping it dry or the new one will soon be like your old one.

Re: rusted pulleys

yeah the boat sunk last year and sat in water for 3 or 4 days, soon as that happend the pulleys rusted in a hurry, sucks because the motor never had a spot of rust on it, now it has a little rust and belt shavings all over it! it tore the alternator belt up and shavings went everywhere

Re: rusted pulleys

If they have a GM number on them, it's a GM part. Cheaper than adding another markup to get OEM from BRP.

Re: rusted pulleys

I pull my pulleys every spring and use the wire wheel on them and then paint them......I know it would be expensive, but I wish someone would make some stainless pulleys.......

Re: rusted pulleys

That is not a part that HAS to be marine. It's electrical, fuel, and cooling system parts, along with things like cams and core plugs that makes a marine engine a marine engine. Not pulleys.

Re: rusted pulleys

when the book talks about long water pumps and short water pumps it will make a difference on all the pulleys though?

Not sure what your problem is with it, If the GM part numbers match, it's the same part.
