Re: RYO Cigarettes

Here's a tip I read at RYO magazine online. If your tobacco is to dry, put an apple peal in the pouch for a bit and it will moistin it right back up, read the same about using orange peals, damp cottonballs, etc...

Try this site.
Growing tobacco is a breeze, (so I am told).

You RYO'ers and girlie-boys. You got to get in to 'chop-chop'.
I haven't smoked in a while, but I always rolled mine by hand, and it was only in my latter years i started putting a filter in the rear end...all done mannually. You just bought the paper (Zig-Zag Yellow were my favourites).

Chop-chop is the illegal stuff we got from tobacco farms.
It was thee raw chopped leaves ready for use.
Cost $70 per kilo, and it was top stuff. 1 Kilo gives you a lot of fxgs too (Jee, I just love this spell-check).

Governments don't like people growing their own, and highly regulate the industry.
Their tax take is absolutely enormous.
If i remember correctly, 1 kg of chop-chop at $70 worked out to be $1,000 in finished tailor-mades.

Cheers

I don't smoke anything, so this doesn't affect me, but I have a curiosity question.

Can you buy tobacco that doesn't have chemicals in it? I've always wondered how much of the cancer problem is caused by the chemicals that are put in tobacco to make it burn evenly, etc.

I think there is a brand of cigarette- American Spirit or something like that, which claims in their marketing that they are 100% additive free.

Yes there is, and you can buy their tobacco in bulk and roll your own American Spirit smokes, it is a bit more expensive than other brands, but it makes a great smoke as well

True - I've seen them. I think there are some Nat Sherman brands too.

Just came back from from the tobacco shop, looked at the american spirit brand of tobacco and wow was it expensive, they wanted $45 for a can of it. I can get a pound bag of gambler for $15. I did pick up a $2 pouch of turkish, kind of tastes like an old camel. I'm in the process of making me a "smoke station". Going to build a box that will hold all of my stuff neatly in it's own compartment and have a section for making them without the mess (dunno why but wife bitches about tobacco on the carpet).

$45 bucks, that is very expensive, I just stopped to pick up some tobacco this evening on the way home from work and the American Spirit was $22 a can, the brand I smoke is a product of the Gambler company, but is more mellow and better to make RYO cigs with.
