?'s on 15 hp Mercury

I just bought this motor from a marine mechanic yesterday and have a few questions.

It is electric start. Will it charge the battery that it's hooked up to while it's running?

I think this is the model # stamped in white paint with a date below. The #'s are 50-90983A1 with a date of
09-15-92.

If this is the model #, where can I find what year it is? I checked the sites in the FAQ's section but couldn't find any Mercury info.

Is this circular silver plate with stamped #'s where the serial #'s are?

Model/Serial number is on the transom bracket.

Should be something like OG######

From there, we can determine the year.

p.s. you may find that circular plate in the last pic has the numbers stamped on it too.
