Sammy Sosa was caught red handed last night. A broken bat in the 1st inning found to be corked.

CHICAGO -- Chicago Cubs star Sammy Sosa was ejected in the first inning of Tuesday night's game against Tampa Bay right when umpires found cork in his shattered bat.

The Cubs had runners at second and third when Sosa broke his bat with a grounder to second that at first appeared to drive in a run.

But crew chief Tim McClelland gathered with the other three umpires to examine the bat. Cubs manager Dusty Baker came out and the umpires showed the bat to him.

Mark Grudzielanek was sent back to third base, the run was wiped off the board and Sosa was ejected as he stood in the dugout.
More

Maybe he needed to cork the bat in order to keep his numbers up after they made him get off steriods. I have never liked his cocky attitude and any basball player that cheats in order to compete against other atheletes should be permanently suspended and fined.

His excuse "I picked up the wrong bat". He claims to use a corked bat during batting practice and others do as well. This should not be allowed as far as I'm concerned so something like this dosen't happen.

If you play as much baseball as he does, you can pick up a bat and pretty much tell how much it weighs. That bat was lighter than his normal bats or was it? Since all of his bats could be corked.

Sosa of all players should not not go anywhere near a corked bat. He knew if the bat broke even in batting practice, it would not be a good thing for his image.

RANT OFF
