I have a broken control handle for the tilt and trim handle (it holds the tilt and trim button in place) and would like to change it. The problem is you have to take apart the box to get to the handle and I dont have a schematic on the easiest way to get to this outside handle part. Does anyone know a web link to get to this schematic or have any tips on how to break down the handle to remove this broken handle part. It seems to be held in place by 2 screws that can be accesed only from the backside of the shifter componet which may be held in place with a allen screw. I removed the screw but was afraid to put to much tension on removing the handle because I was told you cant get the box anymore that you would have to buy an updated new box with new cables ect. Thanks for any suggestions.

On most of them you back off the allen screw a couple of turns then give the screw head a whack or two with a hammer and punch to knock the handle off the tapered shaft.
