So I've got the itch again. The itch to build something. The little PM38 is a fun little boat for tooling around on the lake. But it can't hold more than 4 people and then we're not very comfortable for anything but riding around. It was a lot of fun to build though. I came across Glen-L's Party Boat plans and have been going back to look at them many times over the past months. Well, I finally pulled the plug and bought the plans for it. They are quite a bit more intimidating than the PM38 plans were, but they should be doable if I just take my time. And once again the wife has OKed the project! :faint2:

In contrast to the PM38 plans, these plans come with a very detailed bill of materials and lumber suggestions. So I'll need to look around for places to source the lumber. I'm thinking I can use the same places I used for the PM38 but we'll see. A lot of the internal frame parts are made up of a piece of plywood laminated to a white oak or similar wood piece. For that they suggest regular exterior grade plywood. For the external hull sections they of course suggest marine grade plywood. So I'll need to study that some more and then do some shopping around. My plan for now is to take this slow and take my time to make the smaller parts. At the same time I'll work out the space issue for when everything needs to come together.

Wish me luck! :D

The 8.3' beam on a 20'r at 1500 lbs dry should be stable and solid....I notice it calls for an xtra long shaft for single ob setup....or shorter twins......I kinda felt you would be pullin the trigger real soon Pek! :)

Thanks! I'm sure I'll need it! It will be a big boat for sure! The beam is 8' 3" and the hull depth is 3' 8".

A single can be either long or extra long. They say extra long for twins. I'll go with a long shaft I think.

Yeah, once I got the plans I felt the itch to get started.

Is that a wet bar along the port side?

Not a bad looking boat, kinda deck boatish or mega bowrider.

Now that's not a bad idea! Although the driver would have to be designated before the party could start. Lol! They put a little two-burner boat stove on there along with a small round sink. Under neath they have sketched some storage and an ice box. I'm also picturing all those seats to have storage underneath.

This is an artist's rendering so apparently not the real thing. I'll have to study the plans a bit more before I can say for sure what they intended. It sure looks nice though.

Just adding some more of the renderings they have for this boat.

From the front:

From the side, here you can see the sink and stove better:

In case anyone is curious, here is the link to the listing on the Glen-L site.

Hi all,

I haven't abandoned this project, just haven't had time to get started yet. Besides, the plans were an early birthday present for me so I am not "allowed" to do anything with them yet.

But that won't last too much longer now. I am planning to get started on the smaller items over the winter and we'll see how far I get. More to come (and possibly some pictures) soon I hope.

I'm with Scott on that call. Gonna have to figure out a cover too while you are out on the water drifting with Margaritas.
