Sea Ray 185 Sport - Bow Speaker Placement?

Hey everybody-I've got a 2005 Sea Ray 185 Sport and am looking to add 2 - 6 1/2" round speakers in the bow. (There are currently no speakers in the bow but it does have 2 - 6 1/2" factory installed speakers in the rear that will be upgraded too.) Does anyone have placement recommendations for the new bow speakers? I'm hoping for some insight on where exactly they should go to minimize obtrusion (visually and physically) but maximize impact (sound). Thanks for the help!

Any number of boats I saw this past boat show season had a pair mounted on either side of your SeaRay logo. The only concern I'd have with that configuration on your boat is that it appears that location is in your anchor locker correct? If so, I would want to protect the magnet and bucket of the speaker so that it's not damaged taking the anchor in/out.

The other spot I would look at is somewhere between the grab handle and SeaRay logo on the side, probably down low where it appears from your photo there's a bump out that could add some necessary depth for the speaker bucket/magnet. Depending on how much of a contour there is you may be looking at making some custom spacer rings so everything fits flush.

A quick check on the SeaRay 190 shows the factory location back between the backrest and the grab handle. As that's a normally used seating spot, at least in my boat, I'd be concerned the sound would be muffled by a body sitting against it.

I looked at one of those boats last year, seem to remember it had 4 speakers and the ones in the bow were about where Briangcc mentioned for their 190.

I had deleted all my pics, but saw this on youtube for a 2006 model which was what I was looking at, this is what I think I (mostly) remember :)

For what this may be worth, my current boat has the bow speakers below the seats facing each other, factory install. They are accessible in the underseat storage, and have a plastic housing over them there.

Yeah somewhere internal on the side moulding. That’s where mine are. Pick the thickest possible part of the grp for the best sound.

I was at one time an audiophile. I didn't sleep thinking where I was going to mount my car speakers for my 8 track, yep that old now. The worse location to listen to music is on a boat on the water. Don't sweat it, mount them where it is convenient, and easy on the subs, go ahead, enjoy but I might not want to listen to your music. all I hear is BOOMVAROOMBABOOMPABOOMVAROOMPAVOORPMABOOMPAROOMPAB OOM. I always miss the lyrics.
