Quick brain buster for you guys. If you were in the market for a boat in the size range of 25-30 feet Cuddy Cabin or Express Cruiser and you had to choose between a Rinker or Sea Ray and I am not talking about design wise, just quality and reliability, which one would it be and why? Both boats are equip with the same electronics and motor(s) and both are in used condition. I want all to participate even the ones who had not owned either but know information on boat or did research on them before. Think of this as a survey. Thanks

Edit: Do not consider price in this , remember you get what you pay for. So with that in mind you are willing to spend the extra buck but you are assured that the boat is built well and will last you and a few other owners after you that the boat has been sold to.

Used: condition condition condition

Then design, color, layout that suits you. They arent building exactly the same boat.

Agree, used is all in condition, but if both are the same condition, I would lean to Searay. The Rinker is a good boat, have one and still like it, but the fit and finish of the Searay is better over Rinker. Not speaking of money wise

Yes I am , but I owned a Rinker before so that's why I ask , from friends and Internet reading I see that everyone prefers the Sea Ray over any other boat , just wanted to weigh in the results and see what other people like. But condition for both are in great condition for their years , which ever it might be.

Condition are both great , layout and style are si liar to what you are looking for but price may be slightly different. Choose

Make sure you get it fully checked out on either. I would take a Bayliner over either if the Bayliner checked out better.

Now I would not agree with this statement

I meant to say is that people believe that a Sea Ray is a well know and respected company with a great reputation and makes great quality boats. So many people prefer the Sea Ray over other non poplar boats.

In terms of original build quality, Rinker is on the lower end of the scale along with Bayliner and Sea Ray is in the middle.

There are better brands than either.

As far as used, which one is in better condition?

The three things to consider with a used boat is condition, condition, condition.

Honestly, if both were in great condition, layout similar, similar hours, I'd actually take the cheaper one and spend the leftover money on slip rental or a vacation or new heads for the hot rod.

Think of it this way , you buy the cheaper one and in most cases it is the Rinker , they you start to get water intrusion , dry rot , blisters a lot of cracks but all along you knew that you can avoid these problems with the Sea Ray , would you still take the cheaper one?

By that logic, you'd be best served to not buy the SeaRay. There are other brands out there that have better reputations, and therefore would certainly not have any problems for you.

The case you present above really means that the Sea Ray was truly in better condition than the Rinker was.

Well cared for a Rinker, Bayliner, SeaRay, Chris Craft, Riva, Donzi ... whatever run-of-the-mill boat company you want to name ... can last a very long time with little to no problems.

The opinions as always are all over the place. Water intrusion and rot, good grief.

I went with the assumption that both were in good condition. If one is in better condition, I would take that one even if it costs more.

If any brand is good then why is there a spectrum of which is lower quality to high? You can purchase a Azumat for a couple of million but it's still considered the highest quality. I understand that comparing a yacht is unfair but to some rich people it's considered the best money can buy. The spectrum of boat quality is mainly made up of statistics as it is of opinion. Very tough in this case.

Let me rephrase everything I said, both boats are in good condition , cost the same money and both you like. Which one will it be?
