WINDSHIELD NEEDED. I just purchased a 1999 Sea Ray 210 bowrider and it needs a complete windshield. (and a lot of other restoration) I believe a 1997 - 2004 windshield from a 19 ft or 21 ft with a 8'6" beam will fit.

I don't have a budget for a new Taylormade.

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the hunt for a 'good' 'cheap' donor boat:)

CL, oodle, ebay, ad hunter, & etc are all sources for parts, pieces & donor boats. I suspect there is a decent Sea Ray owners forum on the internet. You might find 1 listed there in the classifieds.

Is it damaged, or missing. Post a pix & perhaps you can fabricate your own. Trim too

There is no real trading, selling or buying in the iboats forums. Feel free to use the PM system to transact business.

Re: Sea ray windshield needed

Thank you for the info. The windshield was destroyed while in dry dock in hurricane Wilma. I will certainly try your recommendations. I have tried Taylormade but they want almost as much for a replacement windshield as I paid for the boat and trailer. I did find a windshield from a Sea Ray 240 sundeck with the same beam, but everyone said it would probably not fit. I passed it up and now it is sold.
I am now going to go through the mechanics of the boat, which look very good. And electrical. Then I'm going do experiment with some gell coat cosmetic repairs.
Wish me luck and thanks!

Re: Sea ray windshield needed

There is a post over at Glen-L boats about making your own windshield, but that may not fit the look of a 1999 SeaRay quite as well as it does a 1960 Glastron (like mine that also needs a windshield) or whatever boat he's building it for.

That post is here.

You might also try:
EDS Plastics
OceanDynamics
UPD Plastics

Or some of the salvage yards posted @ Iboats

The best option would be to find something w/in a reasonable drive so you could go inspect & measure it for fitment, possibly even take the boat w/ you. Not to mention that shipping a small, simple windshield is expensive & bulky, and I suspect that your's will be neither small nor simple....

Let everyone you can know that you're looking for a windshield. They do come up on CL & Ebay occasionally, but word of mouth, friend of a friend of a friend is equally as likely to turn up 1 that will fit.

Best of luck. I didn't own a boat until Nov 2011, that is certainly not the case now:facepalm: The hunt for parts & pieces for the Glastron FireFlite has resulted in what many may describe as a Fred Sanford of Boats looking garage............

The Admiral (my wife) is not so generous or kind w/ her choice of descriptive wording:eek:

Try this........ go to greatlakesskipper.com and call them. I do know if they have one of a single item.....at times they will not list it in the site or possibly you can get one that was returned.

Do you need one side, the center or the whole thing?

The other suggestion is to hunt down boat scrap yards. I do know that new ones can cost up to $3K  and I have seen a Donzi insurance totaled because in needed a windshield and a few other cosmetic items.

One other alternative is to find one based on beam and measurements......... find a good fiberglass man and have it adapted.

Unfortunately, I think those were the curved pricey suckers.

OP.. you might call up taylormade again and ask for a part #. Do your searching in that field as well.

Good luck.

YD.

Re: Sea ray windshield needed

1999 Sea Ray is curved glass with a 8'6" beam. I've had luck finding early 90's models but they all had 7'7" to 8' beams up to 1997.
I'll try the search with the Taylor part number. Great idea! Thanks. I need the entire windshield with brackets. The only evidence that it ever had one is screw holes in the deck......
Now I'm on to replacing the trim bracket and trouble shooting the trim motor.... No boredom in the shop for me. (No AC either)

Re: Sea ray windshield needed

When I purchase my 1994 Glastron SSV175se this spring I too needed to locate a curved glass windshield. As noted above, I was able to speak with a representative of ocean dynamics and I had a couple options. I could send them my frame, which it does not sound like you have, and they could rehab it and put in either glass ($4,000 w/out factoring shipping both ways or rehabbing the frame) or they could put in a product which was a step above plexiglass costing approx. $500 without other costs. They did ask me if I could get the original part number from the manufacturer so I do not know if they can fabricate a new frame and go from there.

Regretfully Glastron only goes back as far as 2002 listing their parts. The windshields, and I don't know if this is the same for searay or not, but they are outsourced to other companies for a year or two and then they move on to another company. I did end up finding a windshield that fit, but not without drilling new holes in the deck of mine. I found it at Lanier Marine in Georgia. It came off a 1993 ssv175elite. Paid $500 for the windshield and then another $200 after they got it over to UPS for shipping. I had a couple different discussions with a representative of glastron prior to purchasing as I am not the gambling type. It didn't go into the existing mounting places, but she's in and functional. Now if I could just find time to use the boat! But that's another story. Sorry for dragging on, but maybe it will help.

Re: Sea ray windshield needed

THANKS for all the help and advice. I'll keep looking while the restoration continues. I just finished going through the trim motor/pump. Next is the bilge and electrical. I will continue the windshield search and maybe one day.........I'll buy goggles........
