Hello everyone, Well, this is my first post on this forum and it's an S.O.S . I am the proud owner of a good ole 89' omc 2.0 seadrive v4 140 horse pain in the neck. A good tried and true outboard , but man, I've had the worst of luck. She's low hours and in dire need of use but the bugs are killin' me. Last of all, I had a parts guy give me the wrong rectifier/regulator and, well, lets just say it was expensive and a fire extiguisher was involved. Bad, bad day. I need some parts. I'm looking for parts or entire motor for the above mentioned animal. Hope someone can assist. IF anyone has any questions, please ask. I've learned quite a bit from owning this monster.

Welcome!!

I hope the parts guy stood behind his mistake for you. I can imagine the fire that caused. You can put a 35 amp reg/rec on a 10 amp system but you sure cant put a 10 amp reg/rec on your 35 amp system. Definately a boo-boo on his part unless you identified the motor as a 2 liter 140 outboard.

Re: seadrive 2.0

Can anyone tell me about converting other stators to work with the existing components? I figure as long as the wiring is coded the same it should work. I've found a few with similar wiring but not sure if this is gonna be anothere flambe' in waiting. New stator costs 200-325. Looking for someone wanting to repower their vessel and pick up some parts motors.

We're not quite sure what you wany to do. We assume the reg/rec is burned up and needs replacing. Any 35 amp reg/rec for a V4 Sea Drive looper or any V6 & V8 looper will work. Any looper 10 amp reg/rec will result in the same fire. The parts guy should provide all the parts necessary as it was his mistake unless you identified the motor as an outboard.

Is the stator burned up too?
