OK it's been some time since my last post. My fishing boat, a '72 bomber with a merc 650,sat for two months. I tried to run it, it would idle/fast idle all day, would make it out of the slough and start to bog down. I put fresh gas with liquid seafoam in it, and it still bogged. Now my runabout sat for 8 months, put good gas with seafoam in it and it runs great. The seafoam has me confused, do they make an aerosol to spray into the carbs? I tried the bomber again today, but first I checked it out. The middle plug wire, (vacumn wire?) on the distributor was corroded so I cleaned it off and taped it on there real good. The plugs looked good, wires were ok. The fuel filter, or what I think to be the fuel filter, was on there good and I wasn't sure if I should fool with it. Anyhow, I blasted out the carb with cleaner put it in the water and took off. It ran much better but eventually started to bog. Should I decarb with the seafoam(Not really sure how), buy carb kits and do it myself, or pay the marina $180 and be done with it? Any help would be appreciated.
