And was the first time using the muffs. They didn't want to stay on very well, and I was worried about it not getting enough water. One of the little exit ports is about an inch below where the muffs fit, the other on the other side above the muffs, which wasn't pumping much water, if any after It started. Guess that's ok, cause it was before I started it.
Anywho, sprayed half a can into the carbs, and threw another full can into 10 gallon tank. Smoked for awhile, like it should.

Then washed and waxed for the first time, and now I'm too tired to even take her out. lol. That's ok, we have the unlimited hydroplanes here this weekend, so the boat ramps will be full, and the cops out everywhere. I don't have a title for the trailer, so no license plate, and couldn't think of a worse time to take it out. Going to the races tomorrow, and probably end up in the beer garden most of the time, seeing old high school friends, etc. Cheers.

While a lot not use any additives at all, I do use sea foam it can and will clean out a fuel system and help a lot of carb problems if its not completely plugged up. Once you get it out on the water run it slow awhile and let it work its self through things.

It sounds like you had the water pressure turned too high when running on the muffs. It does not need to be turned wide open.

Ya, I did. Thought I'd be safe than sorry, but it made the muffs push out with all the extra water pressure. Still not sure if I like using them, since I'm up at the throttle, and can't see if it's slipped off. Might just buy a garbage can, and throw it in that.

The garbage can is better for sure but muffs are ok if you use them right and don't crank the hose. not to mention easier on the water bill if your paying for it.

Get the trailer titled and registered asap, be a shame if they impound the boat.

Problem with the garbage can on that sized engine is you can't get it into the can. Then it generates so much heat that the water in the can overheats rapidly. Then the first time you hit the throttle in gear, all that hot water blows out of the can....that is if you were able to get it in the can in the first place. Muffs solves all those problems!

Water spewing out between the muffs and the LU means nothing. The impeller will use what it wants. Don't worry about it.

On Sea Foam, you are talking to the world. You will have yea birds and boo birds for anything and everything you do. Be your own man of your own convictions........pffffft on your peers!!!!!!!!!

I never heard of it before I joined this site in '05 thereabouts. I use it always now per the can for normal running. Had 10 years on my carbs on my 2002 engine before I redid them and it was because of a piece of delaminated hose, not varnish that causes my problem. Carbs were spotless other than a few pieces of hose and having 3 carbs on my engine, one piece was plugging the high speed jet on one carb. Blew it out, put them back together, set up the linkage and she runs like a top.

On another note, I thought I had a dead weed eater and chain saw having bought both new. One day had nothing better to do so using only a can of SF, brought both back to life. So much for the boo birds.

Seafoam is great it just isn't a solution for a carb that needs a service and shouldn't be used as an excuse not to service the carb once a year.

good point on the trashcan

I don't feel like servicing my carbs once a year, nor my impeller. So I do it when I feel like it and apparently 10 years on both is right for me. But that's my call. We all have different priorities.

If you're running ethanol - then it keeps the fuel system clean (ducking)
