Seahorse, I have motor all apart ready to pull block from middle section. I have a hoist attached to top crank lift ring, all 6 bolts from bottom removed, even small bolts from adapter plate. I can lift whole outboard, pry with crowbars, shake it, jerk it, and whatever it takes. I cannot get it loose. Am i missing anything ?

Is there something holding driveshaft ? I have 1/2" clearance all the way around , but the driveshaft is the one holding together.
I am afraid putting more lift (2 5feet bars on each side + hoist). I don't want to use heat since there is too much plastic and gasoline around the area.

What the...Ficht I have to do to get it loose. I can't believe a 1998 freshwater can be stuck this bad.

Val

PS: in case you forgot, 1998 Johnson 150 FICHT Ocean Runner.

There are 5 1/4" adapter plate bolts, one near each corner of the powerhead and one in the center of the rear of the powerhead positioned upside down from the rest of them. Did you remove the shift rod from the linkage?

Are you using the factory lifting bracket that fits over the crankshaft? Did you remove the 2 upper mount bolts that go thru the steering arem?

The last word of my previous post should be "arm".

I didn't remove the 2 large steering bolts, I figured they were separate from block, everything else is loose, shift rod was first thing ( I usually do the toughest ones first, then easier ones, this way you don't have to rech impossible places while motor is hanging).

I don't have the factory lift bracket, but I adapted 2 types, one bolts through crankshaft shaft, but since size looks a little flimsy, I tied another bolted through flywheel holes.

I'll try taking steering bolts off tomorrow. I am exausted today, I'll go fishing...

Thank you very much for your help, you are an Angel...
Val
