Re: Sears Game Fisher 9.9 Year
You can get all the carb parts from
www.certifiedpartscorp.com. You have to call the phone number, and have the model number handy.
However, before you do that, check to see if you have spark on both plug wires. If you do, go ahead. If you don't, forget about it. There are no parts left for the ignition module under the flywheel for that outboard. None.
If both plugs have spark, though, you can fix most everything else on that outboard, which is actually a nice-running little lightweight 9.9. Whatever you do, never remove the small wires from the external coils. If you do, and crank the engine over, you will burn out the ignition module under the flywheel. Then, the engine's done.
There aren't enough of these left for anyone to take the time to reverse engineer that module and start making replacements. All of the modules that remained after Tecumseh closed its doors are gone...into those outboards.
To make matters worse, there were two different ignition systems used, which means that buying a parts motor doesn't guarantee that the parts will be the same.
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news on this. I had one, and spent an entire year trying to find the parts. I even considered removing the potting material from the module in mine and trying to repair it. But, I got a good 6hp Johnson, so I gave up and sold the Game Fisher and the two other offbreed outboards I had to a guy for $100. Now they're his problem. I even told him what I'm telling you, but he bought them anyhow.
