1980,yes 50:1 Built by Eska with the Tecumsh power head.Eska is out of business.
Ignition is a decided weak link.Ign parts hard to find and expensive.A good tank and hose must be worth 18 or 20 dollars?Sears or certified parts corp may have some parts.

Re: Sears Game Fisher 9.9 Year

Any one got a manual so I can look for parts.

I think the carb need to be rebuilt. Gas leak from the port side of it when i squeeze the primer bulb.

But Motor started on the second pull ran for 3 to four seconds then died.

I still feel I got my money worth's though. Gas tank with one of the fittings and the hose were all brand new and from what it sells for at wally-world that's $48.62 at wally-world.

I'm not sure if it is an eska but it is a game fisher 9.9 it runs pretty good just doesn't like to idle very well but starts on the 1st or 2nd pull

You can get all the carb parts from www.certifiedpartscorp.com. You have to call the phone number, and have the model number handy.

However, before you do that, check to see if you have spark on both plug wires. If you do, go ahead. If you don't, forget about it. There are no parts left for the ignition module under the flywheel for that outboard. None.

If both plugs have spark, though, you can fix most everything else on that outboard, which is actually a nice-running little lightweight 9.9. Whatever you do, never remove the small wires from the external coils. If you do, and crank the engine over, you will burn out the ignition module under the flywheel. Then, the engine's done.

There aren't enough of these left for anyone to take the time to reverse engineer that module and start making replacements. All of the modules that remained after Tecumseh closed its doors are gone...into those outboards.

To make matters worse, there were two different ignition systems used, which means that buying a parts motor doesn't guarantee that the parts will be the same.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news on this. I had one, and spent an entire year trying to find the parts. I even considered removing the potting material from the module in mine and trying to repair it. But, I got a good 6hp Johnson, so I gave up and sold the Game Fisher and the two other offbreed outboards I had to a guy for $100. Now they're his problem. I even told him what I'm telling you, but he bought them anyhow.

I have a few of these motors, and as posted earlier, the ignition is a weak point on these motors. Of the 3 I have, only one has a working ignition.
Some parts are still available from Sears at http://tinyurl.com/cxzlml
The ignition modules are not available though. If nothing else, the parts lists is there for you to look at.
There is also a bit more info at http://home.earthlink.net/~brixent/Model217585870-586351.htm
The advance spark assembly is where I've had failures.
Anyways, if your motor runs, hopefully this is not an issue.
I've used my 9.9 Eska (exactly the same as your Gamefisher) quite a bit over the years, and just replaced the water pump impeller last year. If the ignition holds out, I expect to get several more years out of it.

Mine only had spark on one cylinder, but would start and run OK in he barrel. But it was only running on one cylinder. That's why I suggested he test spark on both. I did replace the external coil on that cylinder with a brand new one, but that wasn't the problem.

What years did they make this motor and is it just the year around 1980 that the ignition sucked or ALL of them?
