Hey all,
Love this board and need some opinions. I want/need to pull the two old lounge seats in my 15 ft runabout with walk-thru windshield. I'm fine with the two forward seats (way up front), but don't know whether I should leave passengers lounge seat and replace driver's lounge seat with one bucket seat, OR pull both lounge seats and put in four bucket seats??? Most of you have probably seen several seat configurations in your years on the water. What was the best/neatest and most functional???
I'll either be carrying two adults and two kiddos or just two guys (fishing. Don't like seats across the back, cause they block access to the tanks and battery. And is there a good way to mount buckets without putting more holes in the deck for mounting screws?? Any input is appreciated. Want to do it right the first time.

Re: seat arrangement

Good question. I would think best advantages to the lounge seat would be 1) opening it out to a lounge for sunbathing and 2) (if you have more rear seats) being able to sit and face those folks maybe while anchored and eating/talking. Although if your buckets swiveled 180* around that would work also. I don't know if I would want to ride in a rear facing seat unless spotting for tube/skier. I would opt for 4 buckets and maybe fix the rear two to be removable for when 2 guys are fishing to get more room. No clue on how to install without more drilling of holes.

Good Luck,
BL...

Re: seat arrangement

That's kinda what I am thinking right now. IE, pull the lounge seats in favor of four swiveling buckets...two of the buckets (drivers/passenger) on raised boxes (storage) and two buckets removable right behind the other two. If we want to get into sun bathing, we can crash on the coolers we always drag around...once I get a cushion for them (leaning towards KMart, Walmart summer lounger chair cushion combos). Two lounge seats in this little runabout barely leaves a small alley to walk in when both loungers are extended out. I'm a BOB (big ole boy) so that ain't workin' at all.
Right now I'm trying to figure out how to have the rear buckets each attached to a removable board. I thinking about a slide arrangement, where one end of the board would slide into/attach to the fixed box bases of the front buckets. But that's just in my head. May not prove practical. We'll see. Any responses/input are more that welcome.

Hugh,
The lounge seats are toast, one of the reasons I'm refitting. Do you have Academy Sporting Goods stores in GA? If I were going to refit with new loungers, I'd go there. Very good prices.

Tim
We don't have those stores in Ga. The cherapest I have found is about 150 per seat. I think for now I am going to rebuild and rcover mine. You can get marine grade vinal at Hancock Fabric about 10.00/yard. They also have foam if you need it.

Re: seat arrangement

Hugh,
Sounds like a deal to me. Too bad about Academy. I have to drive 120 miles (Amarillo...far NW Texas) to the nearest one, but its worth it. Kinda like Wally World only sporting goods only...every kind you can think of. I saw loungers there on sale in May for $75 each (pretty nice quality too), normal price is about 90 to 120 depending on size.
