I stated this project because I love the hull design. This poorly neglected cruiser I started by cutting off the cabin, then ripped out the floor (rotten). Now the floor is replaced and I need to figure where to place two pedestal seats. In the back will be a bench. I'm thinking about the 3/4 mark from the rear? Or should I place it in the water and adjust accordingly?thanks Mars Bar.

I was faced with the same dilema so I built a box and stuck one of my seats into the top of it. Move it around until you find the right spot, mark the floor and there you are..... ;)

Does the boat need to be in the water? I want to put in a side console. One of you fellas. using epoxy resin over pink styrofoam... worked excellent. Still figuring how to post pics. even after readingthe "how to" post. DUH Hey Tashasdaddy how's the weather there? snow storm here! high winds and maybe an 1" of snow.

Boat needs to be in the water @ exactly 65 ' depth with a temp between 62 and 63 degrees. No, not at all. Leave it on the trailer. Being in the water doesn't change the height of anything in side of the boat. Sorry, just couldn't resist it.......:p

When considering adding a side console, one should determine the available length of control cables, that will help with figuring out where to install your console.

Re: Seat placement on an empty hull

Have you tried/run other boats like yours with different seating placement? If not, do what has been suggested, mark and place the seat temporarily so you can try that configuration on the water after the spring thaw. You may change your mind before you get your project done. No sense putting holes in the floor mounting the seat(s) until you're really sure how you want it laid out. To measure for control cables, measure from the control down the gunwhale to the transom, then across to the motor and its cable connections...note the measure/length and add in a foot or two for grins. Or do like my neighbor does, run a garden hose just like the cable will be run...then measure the hose from control to outboard. Post some pix...we love eye candy on this site.

Don't forget that sometimes when the water is rough, its better to be standing at the helm than sitting. So unless the chair has a slide mechanism, don't mount it too close to the wheel. Leave some standing room.

Great advice everyone, thanks. I thought that the boat might lean or nose forward (I'm 285 lbs.) that's why I asked if it had to be in the water. I love the joke about being in 65' at 62 degrees hahaha. I will ask my genius daughter how to post pics, I've never seen a boat like mine. you probably don't want too. ahahah:D
