Seating options for my new to me boat

Just picked up this 1989 fisher sv14. Nice setup but I want to have a seating option for the front. There are times when my wife and 3 year old want to go with me and I was thinking about some type of bench seat maybe versus the pedestal front seat. I don't want a back to back seat because my wife would have to have her back to my kid. Maybe a cooler with a bench type seat mounted on top. If anyone has any ideas let me know and pictures work great too if someone converted a boat like this into what I am trying to accomplish. See pictures below for reference (they are pictures of my new boat.)

Re: Seating options for my new to me boat

Nice boat!! maybe consider buying 2 more of the 3/4 base plates and mounting them slightly behind and on either side of your current plate and with the purchase of 1 more seat to match the one up front and without a pedestal you could have 2 seats up front that are easy to interchange. I have a similar setup ( homemade) on my tri hull but in the rear. I can post a pick if you like but I have yet to carpet, just picked the carpet up from Cabela's yesterday!!

Having trouble visualizing this. Please post picture. Also I guess you are saying to mount the seats right to the base on the floor meaning the seat bottom will only be a couple inches off the floor?

I would suggest a middle bench seat instead, you really don't want a 3 yr. old up at the front of a boat.

as it is, the boat is set up for 2 man fresh water fishing; you are looking to convert a special purpose boat to general use.

I'd take out that front seat completely. Put a bench across the center where the box (live well?) is. Maybe a low bench in the bow where the front seat is now.

Benches are nice b/c people can face either way, slide side to side, put two together; a fixed chair limits you drastically.

The child (actually, everyone) should sit as low as feasible for safety. It would be dangerous to operate the boat at top speeds with a large adult in the front seat.

I would not want a 3 year old on a pedestal. He/she should be lower in the boat. It would be easy to install a bench seat so the 3 year old can sit beside your wife, less worry for both of you.

where would I get a bench seat like this? Are we talking about a cooler with a pad on top of it? Can someone post some samples of benches please

Re-thinking my idea it may not work for the front end of a boat but to give you a better idea of what I was trying to describe, see attached pics of my setup. it works well for the back of my boat... if I am going fishing I can set it up as a pedestal or if my kids come along I use the 2 seats for extra seating. Maybe this will help, maybe not... I tried :D
