What's the trick to getting the #4 sparkplug out of my 1985 mercruiser 190?After soaking them for a week I got the #3 out but you can"t get the flex socket on #4 because of the expansion tank on the intake.I put the plug socket on and put a wrench on that but it's a weird angle I'm afraid of snapping it.

If all you break off is the porcelen (sp) part of the plug, who cares, put in a new one.

I guess you got a point there Don, but man it's really in their. Is it me or is it impossible to get a plug socket and ratchet on it?Mine won't go.Im not concerned about the porcalin breaking off but the plug itself.

Are you using an extention with your ratchet and socket, I couldn't get mine with just the ratchet and 5/8 socket I had to use the extention also to get the socket on straight.

Just outta curiousity, what'd ya soak 'em with? PB Blaster has worked like magic on some of my problems before. If ya haven't used it before, give it a try. You should be able to get it at Wally World.

5/8 socket on plug and that's it can't get my flex on because it is too tight on the expansion tank.

Then remove the expansion tank or even the manifold if you have to. After that, change your plugs yearly and keep them from rusting up like that and you will be fine.
