It seems like even when you do go to the Dr. you still end up being the one who diagnosis the problem. You tell him what's wrong and he agrees and sends you home minus your copay. Sounds like we could have just handled that over the phone. I find all you really need the Dr. for anymore is to write a prescription...

WHO ME... Actually my wife is an ER nurse so we know the DR's quite well. The last thing you want to tell a nurse wife is your ailments. She is lickly to bring a scalpel or IV home. The other day I had a splinter in the thick skin of my foot, I could not get it so home comes the scalpel. Your not getting near my foot with that thing honey...Oh common she says, Yeah right.

It's not so much to save money as we have good insurance and minor ailments are handeled in casual contact. It's stubornness, I am the fellow who had a wisdom tooth pulled last week that has been bothering me three years, now I am wondering why I waited so long. Man it feels good having that sucker out.

As for the cranialrectal inversion, thats not so much the problem for me as a reoccuring case of cranial-rectal Insertion.

I once diagnosed myself with anal glaucoma. I really couldn't see my butt going to work that day. ;)

This CRI rang a distant bell...and yes, the cure is often a swift kick...at least it was in the old school :D

Since I found out you could suture with super glue, I haven't needed a doctor. All I ever seem to do is cut myself!!

As a senior nurse in a local hospital who's married to another senior nurse. We have two children in the medical profession and both of us had parents in the nursing profession. We talk about our problems and usually turn to the doctor for tests and results. We don't presume to know it all but use these agencies for theitr knowledge. It's paid off a few times.

Now if only he'd connect my optic nerve to my anus, that'd improve my outlook on life!
Ross

Re: Self Doctoring

As an ex auto body man, I was constantly getting sticthes, one time I cut my hand really deep and should have had stitches in it, but had just had stitches taken out the day before and didnt want to go through the shot to deaden it and all. I poured hydrogen peroxide on it and taped my thumb to my hand which closed the wound, left it that way for a week and then took the tape off. healing had started and there isnt even a scare there today unlike all the other places I had stitches!

Ebb – you go dude!!! I’ve removed warts by cutting off the top and dropping one or two lye crystals on it…apply a band-aide and bounce across the floor screaming for a little while. Cures ‘em. :)

Re: Self Doctoring

First job, picking veggies for farmers market, cut 1/4 inch off the end of my thumb with a rusty muddy garden knife. Tore my shirttail off and used it as a bandage, held in place with rubberbands. I was afraid of being fired and picked on, also afraid to look at it for 3 days.

Never did the superglue deal, as I didn't want it sealed shut if it were to become infected. Just use lots of tape. :D Cover wound with bandage, cover bandage with cloth, wrap cloth securely with athletic tape. It actually sticks better after it has gotten wet.

Scalpel? You mean single edged razor blade, don't you? Done that lots of times.

Yea, have had to reopen a wound that has started to get infected so as to pour some alcohol on it.
Nothing much better to do it with than that except then knifes you use to cut model car parts off them plastic trees.
Man them things are super sharp.
