Purchased a '94 Talari 200 w/Merc 4.3lx. Seller took the stock prop off, replaced it with a 14x19. Have no idea what it came with. Boat runs 46mph (wot) @ 4900 rpms in its present set up. Takes for ever to plane, it seems. Thinking about a 4 blade but may be wrong in my thinkin'..........If I go 4 blade what size ya reckon gonna need. Boat weighs in the neighborhood of 3Klbs, tubing, knee boarding etc.. I do have a set of Smart Tabs (60#) on the way.

Thanks in advance gents! :)

Need to know what manufacturer rec rpm range at wot is. If it is higher than the 4900 you are currently hitting you may want to check out the prop I have for sell on ebay. see my thread 4 blade 4 sale. this prop would probably bring your rpm's up just a little as it is 15x16 with heavily cupped blades. It is designed for a great hole shot. Current bid is $71 about half of what I paid for it off this site. it is basically brand new as I only used it 4 times.

I would NOT do anything until the tabs are installed as they are the main reason for the poor planeing time

With water sports as your main listed goal a bigger prop would NOT help the boat performance in this

I believe he is already over reving. That engine should rev in the 4400 - 4800 range so the 20P 4-blade or 21P 3-blade sounds about right but that would make hole shot even worse. I'd check the tach accuracy and make sure you understand how long it should take this boat to get on plane. What you think is too long may not be.

I agree with silvertip - check the tach. That boat with that motor turning that many rpm's should be jumping on plane. A bigger pitch will only cause it to take longer to get on plane.
