Serial number change ?

My 50hp. 4cyl. 2carb. engine has the number A131226 on the serial number tag,
can anyone tell me what this number will change to.? I was told it is a 1984 engine,
is that right.?

Your right Gerry, the engine is a 1985 MERCURY 50 EL

His model number is 1050525
