Serial number location '76 Johnson 85HP

I have decided it is a good idea to purchase a repair/owners manual for my engine; can anyone suggest where i look on the engine to determine the serial number? Engine id number? And lastly a good resource to purchase the manual;

Manual can be purchased on this site no doubt.

ID plate should be on the outside of the port transom bracket, numbers also may be found on a core plug on the powerhead (looks like a small freeze out plug).
