Serial Number

I have a Mercruiser in my boat and I don't know if it was originally there when the boat was manufactured. Is there a way to dig through any records to finds out the history of the motor or is there no records kept for a motor?

Ayuh,... If you post the #s found,...
Don, or another Tech who's still "In the Biz" can usually find something for ya,....
Not that it really Matters,... Hulls are Repowered/ Refitted everyday...
Good, Bad, or otherwise,.. You've got whatcha Got....

It's a 1987 model 165. With is a 3.7L engine. aka 470. what year is your boat?

You can also find the OEM service manuals up in the adults only sticky at the top of this forum. You need #8 for your engine, #6 for your outdrive.
