Last year I picked up my boat over Easter. When I got home, I went to work on it. That day my left foot began to hurt. I went to the doctor and he claimed that I had broken bones in the foot, like hairline cracks. I walked around with a cast and crutches for a month. The pain subsided slowly but completely.

This year, over easter, the pain has returned. It is on the outside edge of the left foot and right in the middle. I have replaced all my shoes and have done nothing that would cause another break(s). The coincidence is too obvious for me to ignore. I am hobbling around the house this morning with the EXACT same pain. I made an appointment with a podiatrist for a week from Monday. Does this make sense to anyone? Last summer was a bust because of this and I refuse to go through this again, but I think my last doctor didn't have a clue. The breaks were not obvious on the x-ray but he pointed to them with confidence. I am not a doctor and this was a new thing last summer so I took it on faith, but I can't imagine why this is occuring again.

Any ideas? Allergies, falling arches, temperature issues? The pain is quite severe.

Gout........

It Usually starts in the Big Toe Joint,......

But can occur in Any Joint.........

I'm susceptible to it myself,.... But I take Allopurinol daily for it,+ have been Symptom Free for a couple years now......

I know a Lady with it,.... She tells me the the Level of Pain from it is Right Up there with Child Birth,.....
I Don't Know That,..... But I Know a Gout Attack is the Most Painful thing that I've Ever Experinced.........

Re: Serious pain

took me 18 years and at least 20 doctors to finnaly nail mine. funny thing it was a doki tari in venezeula that found it not one of the militaries fineist.
mine turned out to be seronegative spondeoartheritis (sp?), good news is it normally quits progressing about 45 to 50 years of age, bad news is the joints already affected stay that way and nothing much can be done.

Re: Serious pain

Gotta agree with Bondo. Sounds like Gout or Rheumatoid arthritis. My girlfriend just had some tests done for this exact type of pain in her foot. Get a new doctor with a clue.

Trust me, plantar faciitis. Prepare to purchase a succession of orthotics.

BTW, I've got RA, too, and this description ain't it.

Re: Serious pain

I had foot pain that lasted for a year. This has happened twice. Without treatment the pain disapeared one day both times.

I am certain it was plantar faciitis. It hurt like heck in the morning.

I believe in mental pain management. Dont let the pain control you, you control the pain.

Ken

Re: Serious pain

Broken bones? Hairline cracks? Sounds like it could be a bone spur to me. My wife had foot surgery years ago for broken bones. Last year her pain came back. Xray showed that it was a bone fragment that was tearing a cutting its way around. Doc removed it and she is okay now,,,,,,,,,at least with the foot anyway.
