Servicing DP-D1 lower unit

Serviced my lower unit with Amsoil. Online info said it takes about 2.7 qts. Drained unit, removed dipstick and back fill plug and filled from the bottom. My question is do you fill till it comes out the back plug to gauge level. This was my understanding. But it took a little over 3 qts. roughly and now reads high on dipstick with lower unit level.

Not super familiar with the DP-D1 but I believe I have the paper manual for it at home. I will look at it Thursday.

Looked at my paper manual and it makes no mention of filling procedure

Im not familiar with the dp,-d1, but I would go by the manufacturers dipstick.

At this point I think I'll go by the dipstick reading and drain some out. I guess that's what it's there for right.
