Does anyone know how to set the max spark advance on a evinrude 1992 115 TLEND? I don't have a test prop and was wondering if there was a way to do it without running the motor at WOT. Need help

I read over the reeves method and there isn't a rubber stop for the timer base. The roller that inside the cam slot manually advances the timer base. You can't move the timer base with the roller in the slot. Should I take the roller off? Am I missing a step? Still need help.

Yours is a later model and uses another method to adjust max timing. On yours, you have a locknut on the end of the spark advance rod. (the rod that goes to the timer base.) Loosen the locknut and turn the thumbwheel to change the timing. Rotate the top of the thumbwheel toward the crankcase to advance the timing, rotate it away from the crankcase to retard the timing. Retighten the locknet when the timing is set.

Just crank the motor with timing light on #1 and advance set and held at WOT. Ground all plug wires.

I was able to download a very good service/repair manual that covers several of Evinrude motors built on the basis of yours. It covers your exact motor in easy to understand and very detailed explanation with pictures. This particular manual was more informative that an actual Evinrude service/repair manual I bought for $40 from Evindrude for my 25hp. I can't remember exactly the website, but I believe it was connected with Ebay. I was able to download this 200 page manual for $4.99. It has been very helpful. It covers all the systems of the motor in several chapters, trouble shooting and much much more. I thought for $5, I wouldn't be out much if it wasn't any good. I wish I could tell you the exact website, but I believe if you search the internet for a 1992 Evinrude 115 hp you will eventually find it. I think it gives you 3 days to download it after purchasing.
