Set STATOR on fire

On my 80 AETO outboard whilst do repairs to the block the heat mates i had in place caught fire
These also melted the wire casing to the stator and some of it looks a bit black.I have read a few post
about repairs to the stator(rewired) but apart from the melting of wires would there be any other damage?
I can take a few pics if this helps.

Ok,here are a couple of photos.Can someone please tell me if the black box is repairable as its slightly melted.
The wires going to this black box are also melted.
