Have used both those VHF and CB antennae for nearly 30 yrs and in all that time had
one go bad (just don't try to use 'em as handholds - had a fat kid bust a 2nd antenna when he grabbed it to catch himself

as he stepped into the boat), so my experience is definitely
good. The Galaxy models are s'posed to be even better.<br /><br />For best reception/transmission mount the antenna as high as you can. If that's the console, IMHO that'll do. Many CC boats without T-tops have 'em there, if not on a bow rail. Try to keep the antenna at least 3' from the radio if possible.
