shape stainless steel tubing for deck railing

Hello,<br /><br /> I posted a message several months ago concerning some tips on bending stainless<br />tubing. This tubing will serve as a deck<br />railing for my 13ft. Mckee Craft. Although<br />I recieved some good tips, I am still having a problem with the tube crimping. This tubing is 7/8 in diameter. I have tried using a hydraulic<br />bender that I bought sometime ago. I also filled<br />the tubing up with sand. None of these worked. Does anyone have any better ideas.<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />Wayne

WAKRUEM>>>What is the wall thickness?What is your bending die radius?If the tube wall is thin and your bend radius is less than 3 times the tube diameter you will need to use an internal mandrel system for support.Preferably a ball mandrel.I am presently employed where we use these items daily.Contacting a bending operation may be the way to go.Too bad I don't live closer.I would be more than happy to tackle the job.

here's a shot.. in bendin' pvc shed 40 conduit.. we put the pipe in a 'hot box' an bend the pipe or a wrap-a-round heatin' blanket an bend... <br /><br />well, i know you've got ss tubin'...<br /><br />but here's the 'kicker'...<br /><br />once the pipe is heated soft.. there's noway it'll bend a 90 deg bend,, it'll kink evertime..<br /><br />the trick is to 'plug' the ends of the pipe with these plugs... there made for each size pipe,,but not that small.. they are rubber you put them in the ends of pipe an tite up a wing nut or hex nut till it seals... the hot air expands in the pipe while heatin' it up.. <br /><br />a perfect bend evertime ...<br /><br />try it...<br /><br />i've seen metalwasher/rubber/metalwasher/thru bolt&nut seal plugs at good hardware stores.. an as small as 7/8's,,i think..<br /><br />if so put 'em in... heat up the tube some an bend...<br /><br />good luck...<br /><br />by-the-way,, has to be that kinda seal.. duct tape don't work..
