Sharpie rubbing all over new dinghy

Hey guys I am new to the forums, though I have been lurking for a while now learning a lot. Got myself a new PVC dinghy and did the much easier sharpie method I learned here. Came out great and looks amazing, though I rolled it back up cause I am going to use it every weekend and just take it on my small car so it needs to be rolled up, there is Sharpie smudges everywhere... Did I use the wrong sharpie or something? cause I doubt it.

Did you put on sharpie then roll it up?? If you put on the sharpie then used it for the day and after that rolled it up. umm I wouldnt have an answer for you but if you used the sharpie then rolled it up i would asume you did not let it dry

Actually no. I left it some what inflated for about 3 days and I still have not taken the boat out so its been in the house, rolled it up yesterday and moved it around and today when I opened it, there ws a few sharpie spots around where I folded it. I am guessing I used a certian type of sharpie but I dont think so. Maybe I should stop my Lowe's and pick up those thick sharpies they sell. I used the ones you buy at wallgreens for school. What do you think?

I used the biggest ones they had on my mariner 4 and now my Saturn and has no problem after doing overnight inflated

Question is how do I remove the old sharpie? Do I use MEK?

Alcohol? But don't waste top shelf on it. LOL

Alcohol won't remove a bit, try nail acetone, acrylic car thinner and see it it works. Mek is very harsh for PVC if abused. Try first 2 with a Q-tip on sharpie spots.

The school type Sharpie may not be permanent ink. If so, you should be able to remove it with a solvent easily.
