I know & understand how the interrupt works & why it's necessary. Here's my problem. I put my new cam & lifters in & the head back on this weekend on my '76 140 mercruiser.
I think while it was apart the linkage rod that hooks to the carburetor got turned a few times & is out of adjustment. Now the shift interrupt will engage while in gear. It does it in reverse every time & occasionally in forward gear. As soon as it goes into reverse it activates the interrupt. When it does it in forward gear it's at about 2/3 throttle & it will activate it.
It does it more when it's shut off & just working the shifter back & forth. I can feel the slightest bit of change in the shift mechanism. It's not quite as smooth.
Could this be because the carb linkage rod out of adjustment? Thanks. Jim.
