I have a 1980 Lund Siruis with a Mercruiser 120 HP in it. it is not the original motor we replaced it a couple of weeks ago. When I connect the Shift Interrupter wires one Brown and one Black the boat Same on engine as on Interrupter will not start when I disconnect the wire it starts first crank. Do I replace the switch or do I have some other problem. Shifting is a pain and not easily accomplished

Re: Shift Interrupter

Is the switch activated (up on the high point of the Y bracket)"

If not, check the switch for continuity with an ohm meter.

Re: Shift Interrupter

Did you hook the wires up the same way? black to the upper screw, brown to the lower screw?
The longer screw(where the black wire goes) also supplies the ground for the switch to work.
reverse them and you have no spark.
